    Overview:
    Days 1-3
Hike in Vatnajökull National Park,  shaped over millennia by volcanic eruptions, glacial runoff and rushing rivers. By Zodiac boat, explore Fjallsárlón lagoon with an iceberg “sculpture garden” in its silty waters.  Trek through forest and heath to Svartifoss (black falls), a stunning cascade pouring from hexagonal lava columns. Strap on crampons and trek over a dramatic glacier in Skaftafell National Park, admired for its ice formations, water caldrons and pinnacles.  At Iceland’s southernmost tip, walk in the protected habitat of puffins, Arctic terns and guillemots.

Day 4 Ready for a quintessentially Icelandic outing? Hop aboard a “super jeep” for a drive across rocky lava beds, glacial outflows and rivers near Katla Volcano. Discover Thórsmörk, an alpine oasis of lime-hued hillsides, caves, snowy mountains and wildflowers. Hike from bizarre rock formations and canyons to a glacier tongue surrounded by pristine valleys, lakes and ice fields. Explore a vibrant green wonderland, ringed with breathtaking caves and icy peaks, and crisscrossed by glacial streams.

Days 5-6 Venture into the realm of bubbling mud pools and thermal rivers.  Set out on two wheels through the rolling terrain around Lake Thingvallavatn, a beautiful and protected national shrine, and the largest natural lake in Iceland. Walk in Thingvellir National Park, a World Heritage site and symbolic heart of the Icelandic nation. Forty percent of all Icelandic flora can be found here, though nothing is taller than a dwarf birch! Set off on a hike across a stunning valley leading to a gradual climb through a beautiful gorge.
