I finally had the opportunity to experience a beautiful destination that has been on my “bucket list” and is several of my clients most favorite destination; BodyHoliday/Le Sport a health and wellness resort on the beautiful island of St. Lucie. Needless to say, I was excited to experience it for myself! Truly their motto “Give us a week and we’ll give you your body back” does not disappoint. Although a had only a few days, I made the most of every moment.
What makes this place so special? It ranks high for offering something for everyone; whether traveling solo, with friends, mother/daughter, family’s (minimum age is 16 years), girlfriend’s, couples or a significant other. So much to do that your day can be filled from early morning 7am walks to 6pm BodySpin. What a wonderful destination that is “fully inclusive” of beautiful accommodations, three delicious meals daily, unlimited alcohol, fitness classes (Yoga, Step, Body Dance, Absolution, Body Burn, Body Tone, Stretch and more), complimentary tennis and golf lessons, one 50-minute spa treatment daily(except day of arrival and departure), tax, service and all gratuities…on a blond-sand beach at the island’s northwestern tip, 10 miles north of Castries. Your drive from Hewanorra International Airport it is about a 1 ½ – 2 hour drive.
BodyHoliday pampered me with an array of excellent spa treatments. It is described as a holiday for the mind, body and spirit, and I would agree. I recommend that if you can take at least a week to rejuvenate, eat healthy (delicious food options), experience non-stop activities on a beautiful beach along with two pools to luxuriate in, you will return feeling physically and mentally recharged.
Did I mention that all of the water sports are included in the rate? Snorkeling, Water-Skiing, Wake Boarding (Paddle Boarding), Windsurfing, Water Skiing, Tubing, Kayaking and Hobie Cats (instruction included) PLUS Scuba Diving even if you are not a certified diver (offering a Resort Course PADI program). The sea color was so clear and warm! So, if you are into water sports this all inclusive resort is for you and all provided with trained instructors.
I took advantage of all of the water sports I love and Paddle Boarding which I hadn’t tried before. The water was pretty calm and after a few minutes of instruction, I felt comfortable enough to stand up and paddle out on my own. It was challenging to get your balance and stand up and keep paddling, but felt like it was a great workout while I enjoyed the sights from the water. I was next ready for some exhilarating fun and took off for tubing on the back of the boat. It was a blast being pulled by the boat while hanging on to the tube in the beautiful water.
Dining has several options and Cariblue, a dining terrace offering sea views with many options including nutritious fare. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, and dinner offers table d’hote and a la carte options. There is also a wine salon featuring a worldly selection of vintages and tasting sessions. The intimate piano lounge hosts nightly sing-alongs and stays open until the last guest retires.
One of the four restaurants here, TAO has earned its fame serving East-West fusion cuisine, including fresh sushi and sashimi. Drinks in hand, guests gaze at the sea from the adjacent bar.
If you prefer not to dress up for dinner, The Clubhouse offers a casual buffet dinner. A new circular bar was added to so guests have a place to linger before or after dining, which I did each evening. There was a band there a few nights for dancing too. The Deli is open beachside during the day for light meals and drinks, and The Pavilion grill features a pizza oven, salads, and barbecue stations.
Oh yes, there are more inclusive activities that abound and are included: fencing, archery, tennis, biking, dance classes, and golf lessons and sessions on a nearby course. I took advantage of three small group golf lessons as I have never played and what a fantastic opportunity. The golf pro was excellent and most patient. My lessons allowed me to try something new that I have wanted to do for some time and going to consider taking it up back home. Most days, there were more than 40 activities to choose from, so there is truly something for everyone. Table tennis and board games are further recreational options.
Just want to hang on the beach? Umbrellas shade lounge chairs on the beach, where staffers are happy to bring cocktails and snacks upon request. They’ll even swim a delivery to you out in the sea hammocks (which I loved). One day I choose to spend some time by the pool to use one of the cabanas by the upper level (infinity pool).
The wellness center has been recently expanded. Here, I was treated to pampering body treatments, including aromatherapy, massages, reflex therapy, thalassic wraps and hydrotherapy in one of 33 treatment rooms. I skipped the facial, which is one of the options, as I recently had one back home.
The new glass-enclosed Tree House studio is a high-rise, multifunctional space for spin instruction, fitness and yoga programs, and events. The 1,000-sq-ft structure is 25 ft above the ground and set on a hillside adjacent to the wellness center. It is surrounded by gardens and encased in 8-ft floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views of the Caribbean Sea. The open-air Zen Deck, situated on the structure’s rooftop, serves as often as a yoga studio. Tree House programs include high-intensity classes, group fitness classes and one-on-one sessions in tai chi, Pilates, fencing, meditation, yoga and personal training. All programs except one-on-one instruction are included in the all-inclusive resort rate.
Reached along covered walkways, accommodations are in a four-story structure on the side of a hill overlooking the long, palm-fringed beach. An elevator zooms to upper levels, but many guests relish the climb. The air-conditioned and beautifully appointed rooms have soft pastel color schemes, four-poster beds and large balconies. TVs are lacking, but each room is outfitted with a voice-mail-equipped phone, Wi-Fi access, clock radio, safe and iron. All rooms have a small refrigerator and iPod docking station.
Accommodations (all boast four-poster beds) can meet a budget for everyone; ranging from single garden view (for solo travelers) to garden view, oceanview, oceanfront and a new Penthouse Suite (inclusive of butler service).
My stay went too quickly and before I knew it was time to head home with lots of wonderful memories, feeling relaxed from lovely spa treatments, physically stronger from the fitness classes/water sports and many great photos to remind myself that this is a destination I will definitely return to. If you are looking for a beachfront all inclusive active get-away, this is the spot for you!
